NMO and Comorbidities

Does anyone have any other illnesses in addition to NMO, and do you feel that they make your NMO worse or does your NMO make them worse?

  1. I have Alopecia Areata which is another autoimmune disease. I was diagnosed at 9 years old. I can't help but to think it may be part of the reason I got NMO. I've noticed a lot of people who have NMO have other autoimmune diseases. I am currently dealing with some underline health issues that I believe are exacerbated by the NMO. I truly believe that any health problem we have is a combination of both the illness/condition and the NMO equally contributing in making one or the other worse.

    1. I have diabetes and I also have fibromyalgia. To be honest I'm not sure which makes what worse. I have noticed that since I have been diagnosed with NMO my fibro flares are worse pain-wise and last longer than usual. When I was diagnosed with fibro I was relieved, but still always felt like I had something else because the symptoms were so bad! I'm sorry to hear that you have alopecia also, but you seem to be handling everything like a boss!!

  2. Likewise!!! You are one tough chica and I admire that so much! Also, Your NMO observations are 100% aligned with my experiences as well.
