Hi! Do you have any advice for anyone who is scheduled to receive their first infusion treatment?

It's a great day to be a warrior! My name is Shekita Green and I receive Soliris infusions once every 2 weeks. I was nervous about my first infusion but it is a very simple process. When you receive infusions, you are simply getting the medication intravenously for however long it may take the medication bag to completely empty. For me, the process takes about 2 hours total and I have a port due to the frequency of how often I receive my medications. My advice, REST and RELAX through it. It doesn't cause you pain. Each medication has it's own side effects of course but the infusion itself is nothing short of a walk in the park!

Hey guys Mo here! So my first PLEX treatment I had no idea what to expect. It ran pretty smooth for the most part, and then towards the end I got cold, and my blood pressure started to drop. After that first treatment they knew to give me some calcium, which helped regulate my blood pressure, and I didn't feel like I was in the North Pole! For my infusions, I receive Rituxan every 6 months in 2 dose intervals. My first one made me very sleepy, and my throat got dry. They told me to bring things to occupy my time because I would be there for about 4 hours, but I always end up falling asleep lol. Snacks or some kind of hard candy or cough drops help with throat dryness. I also make sure to bring water. My third infusion is when we learned that I must always have steroids before my infusions because I had an allergic reaction, which was scary, but it is also a very rare occurrence, but of course, since I am dramatic I had to be the one to have the reaction lol. The infusions aren't scary, but I do make sure to limit my interactions with people afterward since our immune systems get wiped.

I personally had a fine time with it. Never any issues with it other than it taking it sweet time to do what it needed to do. But I remember being nervous and I was fine. I hope yours goes well and keel us posted!
