Immunotherapy

I’m newly diagnosed, my Dr wants me to start Rituximab.

I’m not sure why he recommended a non FDA approved treatment when there are 3 others that are FDA approved. Is this common?

Please share your success with any immunotherapy treatment.

Thanks

  1. Hi @gabbygee! I am so glad that you are reaching out to our community for support. As you wait for others to hopefully chime in to share their experience with Rituximab, I thought I would share an article from one of our patient leaders on their experience: https://neuromyelitis-optica.net/living/rituximab-experience.

You may also find this article helpful, as it discusses off-label treatment options (including Rituximab) for NMO, https://neuromyelitis-optica.net/off-label-medications.

Keep us posted on what treatment you decide to go with. Let us know if there are any ways that this community can support you & know that we are always here. Best, Alexis (team member)

      1. hi a lot of Doctors are still going to Rituxan to start their patients on. I was on Rituxan for 12 1/2 years. I have been on Enspryng now for almost 3 years. Ask your doctor about the three FDA approved medications.
