Living with NMOSD

My name is Hyacinth and I wa officially diagnosed Jan 4 2022. I've been on steroids since then.
2025 Jan I was being tapered off. When I got to 5MG every other day, I started feeling sick. Nauseous and vomiting mucus every day! So since Feb 2025 this has been happening and still is and doctors don't know why it is happening. I feel so helpless, defeated and tired. Please help if you can.
I’m so sorry you’ve been dealing with these symptoms for so long without relief or answers. Nausea and vomiting are symptoms of NMO, explained further in this article https://neuromyelitis-optica.net/vomiting. I’m not a medical professional, so this is just my guess, but it may be your symptoms coming through, related to your steroid taper. I was placed back on the steroids at the dosage I was on before the tapering. The "sick" feeling went again but I still had the vomiting and nausea.

Thank you Julie. It is frustrating! I am so tired. I was told to up my steroids dosage and I have an appointment next week with my neurologist. I did some research about Area Postrema Syndrome (APS) and it seems to be pointing there.
